Resolution 10K Race

Week 11, Sunday 30th September

Resolution for Stroke Association - 10K race at Trentham Gardens

Kath, Anne and I entered this with 4 other Trotters.  Some did the 5k and the 15k but it was still nice to see so many Trotters in the same race.

There was a 10 to 15 minute exercise session which we believed to be a warm-up session.  However, the lady that was leading it surprised us all by adding some very high impact moves into it and at the end of it all we were all knackered before we started the run.  I decided to keep out of organised sessions in future and do my own thing.

The course around Trentham lake is 5k long so we had to run it twice and those who did 15k had to do it 3 times.  Sadly there was no official results for the race but it was still enjoyable but we were glad we didn't need to run around another circuit, two was enough.

The ground was not good.  We had to concentrate hard to avoid huge potholes, grooves, tree roots, fallen branches, large stones and mud and in some places it was only safe to walk.  We did decide that it was nice to not having to run amongst the noise and fumes from cars.

Taking all this into account it was not really that bad times that we got in the end.  Kath and I did the 10k in 1.07 minutes.
